Sammamish is made up mostly of residential subdivisions on the plateau east of Lake Sammamish, built from the late 1980s onward, and our refrigerator repair work here follows from that: kitchen refrigerators reaching middle age, garage freezers, ice makers, built-ins and wine coolers. We come to the house, diagnose the fault, and quote the repair in writing.
Refrigerator repair or replacement in plateau homes
Sammamish incorporated in 1999, and much of the housing went up in the years just before and after. A lot of those homes have now had two or three refrigerators. The ones from the early 2000s and later are reaching the age where fans, defrost systems and ice makers start to wear out.
Here’s a breakdown of what’s usually worth fixing on a refrigerator that’s 10 to 20 years old:
| Usually worth repairing | Often not worth it on an older freestanding unit |
|---|---|
| Evaporator or condenser fan motors | Compressor failure |
| Defrost heaters, sensors and controls | Refrigerant leak in the sealed system |
| Door gaskets and hinges | Cracked inner liner |
| Ice makers and water valves | Several major faults at once |
Built-ins are a different calculation. Replacing one can mean reworking cabinetry, so repairing even a major fault often makes sense. Our built-in refrigerator repair page has more.
Garages and the second freezer
Three-car garages are common on the plateau, and many hold a second refrigerator and a chest or upright freezer for bulk shopping. Those units spend their lives in dust and changing temperatures. Coils clog faster, and sloping garage floors can keep a door from sealing.
A few habits help: give the unit space at the back and sides, vacuum the coils once or twice a year, and check that the door swings shut on its own. When a garage freezer does fail, the freezer repair page describes how we troubleshoot it.
One thing to check before you call: garage outlets are usually GFCI-protected, and a tripped GFCI shuts off the freezer without any warning. They sometimes trip when power returns after a windstorm outage, which the plateau’s tall trees make more likely. The reset button isn’t always on the outlet the freezer uses, so press any you can find on that wall and nearby.
Getting to you
Only a handful of roads climb onto the plateau, and they back up at commute times. We give you an arrival window and call when the technician is on the way. Many Sammamish homes sit on cul-de-sacs or private lanes, some behind HOA gates, so include any access details when you book.
Off the plateau
Down the hill, our technicians also cover Issaquah to the south and Redmond to the north.

Repair service in Sammamish: FAQ
Do you cover the whole plateau?
We do: Sahalee and Waverly Hills in the north, Pine Lake and Monohon in the south, Klahanie and the neighborhoods out toward Beaver Lake in the east. If you live in a gated community or on a private lane off the main road, include the gate code with your booking so the technician isn't stuck at the entrance.
My garage freezer runs constantly in summer. Is it failing?
Not necessarily. A closed garage on a warm afternoon can get much hotter than the house, and a freezer in there has to work harder to hold temperature. Make sure the condenser isn't buried in dust and the unit has a few inches of space around it. If it still runs nonstop on a mild day, or the food is softening, that points to a real fault.
Do you work on built-in refrigerators in Sammamish?
Yes. Larger homes on the plateau, especially those built or remodeled in the last 20 years, often have built-in or panel-ready refrigerators, column units or undercounter drawers. We service them all. Mention the type when you call, since some built-ins need special tools to remove the grille or panels.
