Perlick refrigerator problems we see
- Refrigerator slowly losing its cool. Perlick undercounter units breathe through the front grille. A grille blocked by a rug or bar mat, or a condenser coated in dust, cuts cooling capacity a little at a time.
- Drawer not closing flush. Refrigerator drawers carry heavy loads of cans and bottles. A worn or bent slide, or a drawer pushed off its track, keeps the gasket from sealing and lets warm, moist air in.
- Frost on the evaporator cover. Frost building on the back wall of a refrigerator section points to a defrost or drain problem, or to a door left slightly open. It usually gets worse until airflow is blocked.
- Outdoor unit struggling in heat or cold. Outdoor-rated Perlick units cope with weather, but they still need a clear grille and a sensible location. An indoor model installed outdoors is a different story and may never run reliably.
- Fogging on beverage center glass. Some condensation on glass doors can happen in humid spaces. Moisture that runs down the inside or never clears points to the door seal or hinge alignment.
- Temperature display drifting or flashing. Erratic readings or a flashing display can come from a sensor, the control board, or wiring. Write down what you see before calling so we know where to start.
Flush under a counter, in a bar or an outdoor kitchen, a Perlick has very little room to breathe. Perlick refrigerator repair covers undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator drawers, beverage centers and outdoor-rated units in the Signature Series and C-Series. When one stops keeping drinks and food cold, the first suspects are airflow at the front grille, the fans and the door or drawer seals.
How Perlick undercounter refrigerators are built
Perlick designs its residential undercounter units to sit with no gap at the sides or back. All of the heat the refrigerator removes has to leave through the front, via the toe-kick grille. That is the defining feature for repair: the whole system depends on a small opening at floor level staying clear.
In a home bar, that grille often ends up behind a floor mat or a stack of cases. In an outdoor kitchen, it collects leaves, pollen and grit. Either way, the unit gradually loses capacity and runs longer to make up for it.
Drawers and beverage centers
Perlick builds refrigerator drawers in its undercounter lines. Each drawer rides on slides and seals with a gasket along all four sides. Heavy loads of bottles and cans put real strain on the slides, and a drawer that sits slightly crooked will leak cold air at one corner.
Beverage centers with glass doors add another consideration. Glass insulates less than a solid door, so the seal and the hinge alignment matter more.
Outdoor-rated models
Perlick builds outdoor-rated versions of its Signature Series units for patios and outdoor kitchens. These are built to handle weather, but they are not maintenance-free. Our damp Northwest climate means moss, leaves and debris tend to collect around an outdoor unit’s grille. Checking that it is an outdoor model is the first step when a patio unit gives trouble.
Perlick refrigerator repair: what we check
- Front grille and condenser, including the condenser fan and the space in front of the unit.
- Interior temperatures, measured in each compartment or drawer.
- The control and sensors, tested rather than assumed.
- Evaporator fan and defrost, if there is frost or the unit warms slowly over days.
- Gaskets, hinges and slides on every door and drawer.
- Installation. Level, opening dimensions, and whether the unit is rated for its location.
When a sealed-system fault turns up on a Perlick, our EPA Section 608-certified technicians handle the refrigerant side with proper recovery equipment.
Before you call
- Move mats, cases or anything else away from the front grille, and vacuum the grille slots.
- Pull each drawer out and look for anything caught behind it.
- Check that each door or drawer closes on its own and sits flush.
- Keep a little space between items and the back wall so air can move.
- Allow a day after changing a setting before judging the result.

Is a Perlick refrigerator worth repairing?
Most of the time, yes. Fans, sensors, controls, gaskets, slides and defrost parts are reasonable repairs on a solidly built undercounter unit. A replacement has to fit the same opening and possibly match custom panels. The case for replacement grows when an older unit has a compressor failure or refrigerant leak.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Perlick Signature Series and C-Series for repair?
Both are undercounter refrigeration lines that breathe through the front and share the same basic diagnosis: airflow, fans, defrost, controls and seals. The Signature Series is the line that includes outdoor-rated versions. We service both, and the visit follows the same order. What changes are the specific parts, which we order as OEM parts once we have confirmed the fault.
Why is my Perlick drawer not sealing?
Check that nothing is caught behind the drawer and that it is not overloaded. Then look at how it rides: if it drops, sticks or sits crooked when closed, a slide may be worn or bent. A torn or flattened gasket can also leave gaps. Slides and gaskets are routine repairs, and fixing them early prevents frost and warm spots inside the drawer.
My Perlick refrigerator is outside. Does that change anything?
It depends on whether the unit is outdoor-rated. Perlick's outdoor models are designed for patios and outdoor kitchens and handle weather far better than indoor units. Even so, they need a clear front grille, protection from leaves and debris, and occasional cleaning. An indoor model installed outside is likely to struggle in summer and wear out sooner, no matter how well it is repaired.
Is it worth repairing a Perlick undercounter refrigerator?
Usually, yes. Fans, controls, sensors, gaskets, drawer slides and defrost parts are moderate repairs on a well-built unit, and a replacement has to fit the same opening and often match custom panels. A compressor failure on an older unit is the main exception, and we will give you a written quote and our view on whether it's worth doing before any work starts.
