Perlick logo

Perlick makes undercounter refrigeration with a commercial accent. We service Perlick refrigerators, refrigerator drawers, beverage centers, wine reserves, freezers and the cooling side of its beer dispensers, inside the house and in outdoor kitchens. Most Perlick refrigerator repair comes down to airflow at the front grille, a fan, a temperature sensor or a door seal.

Who Perlick is

Perlick is a Milwaukee company that dates back to 1917 and remains independent. It is best known in the trade for commercial bar and beverage equipment, the draft beer systems and back-bar refrigeration used in bars and restaurants. Its residential undercounter line grew out of that work, and it shows in heavy doors, stout shelving and a no-nonsense layout.

The residential range comes in two main lines:

  • Signature Series: the top line, with heavier construction and indoor and outdoor-rated versions.
  • C-Series: a more compact, lower-priced line built on the same front-breathing principle.

How Perlick units are built

Like every undercounter appliance, a Perlick draws air in and exhausts it through the front toe-kick grille. The condenser sits right behind that grille. Heavy use in a bar setting, a dusty garage or an outdoor kitchen all speed up how quickly it clogs.

Signature Series interiors are stainless, which is good for durability but means the evaporator, fan and sensor sit behind fitted panels. Getting to them takes a bit more disassembly than on a plastic-lined beverage fridge, and it is not work to start with the unit plugged in.

Drawers and doors seal with magnetic gaskets that take a beating in a busy bar area. A gasket with a torn corner or a drawer that no longer closes fully is behind a good share of frost and condensation complaints.

Perlick refrigerator problems we commonly see

  • Unit runs constantly and is still warm: dirty condenser, blocked grille, or a condenser fan that has stopped.
  • One wine zone off target: zone sensor, zone fan, or the glass door not sealing on that side.
  • Frost on the back wall of a freezer: door or drawer not sealing, or a defrost fault.
  • Condensation on glass doors: usually a gasket or a door left ajar, and sometimes high room humidity in a basement bar.
  • Keg compartment too warm: the same airflow and fan checks as any undercounter refrigerator.

Here’s a typical case: a basement bar fridge that holds temperature through the week struggles on game day, when the door opens every few minutes. A partially clogged condenser handles normal use but cannot recover from heavy use, and cleaning it often restores normal performance.

Finding the model and serial number

Perlick labels are usually inside the cabinet, near the top of a side wall or on the ceiling. On drawer units, pull the top drawer out and check the cabinet frame. If the label is hard to read, a phone photo with the flash on usually works.

Service notes for Perlick owners

Vacuum the toe-kick grille every few months; outdoor and bar units need it more often. Our wine cooler repair page covers how we approach temperature swings in wine reserves, and the built-in condenser cleaning guide explains what is safe for you to clean yourself. If you also have a U-Line unit in the same bar, the service notes on our U-Line page apply there too.

How a Perlick repair visit works

  1. Call or send a request

We reply within one business hour. We ask what the appliance is doing, the brand and, if handy, the model number from the label inside the door.

  2. Diagnosis in your home

A technician tests the system and finds the actual fault. The visit is $149.

  3. Written quote first

You get the price before any work starts. Go ahead and the $149 is credited toward the repair.

  4. Repair with OEM parts

Common parts are often on the truck. If one has to be ordered, we book the return visit when it arrives. Parts and labor are covered by our warranty.

Perlick repair FAQ

What is the difference between Perlick Signature Series and C-Series for repair?

Both are undercounter, front-breathing designs. The Signature Series is the brand's top line, with heavier construction and a stainless interior; the C-Series is the more compact, lower-priced line. For diagnosis the approach is the same: grille, condenser, fans, sensors, gaskets, then the sealed system. Parts are specific to each line, so the model label matters.

My Perlick beer dispenser is pouring foamy beer. Can you fix that?

Foam has two common causes. If the keg compartment is too warm, that is a refrigeration problem, and we can diagnose it like any undercounter unit. If the compartment is cold and the beer still foams, the cause is usually on the draft side: CO2 pressure, a dirty line or a worn coupler, which is a bar-equipment job rather than a refrigeration repair.

Can a Perlick outdoor unit handle a Seattle winter?

Outdoor-rated Perlick units are built for exposure, but the owner's manual sets the temperature range and the winter steps. Keep the front grille clear of leaves and debris, and check the manual before a hard freeze. If you do not know if your unit is an outdoor model, send us a photo of the rating label.
