Dacor logo

The year matters more on a Dacor than on most refrigerators. Dacor refrigerator repair depends heavily on when the unit was built, because the luxury brand, which began in Southern California, has been owned by Samsung Electronics since 2016. We repair its integrated column refrigerators and freezers, full-size built-ins, freestanding refrigerators and wine columns, and the rating label is the first thing we look at because it tells us which generation we are dealing with.

Why age matters for Dacor refrigerator repair

For years Dacor was best known for cooking appliances, and its refrigerators came from outside suppliers. Since the Samsung acquisition, Dacor’s refrigeration has drawn on Samsung’s engineering, electronics and parts network while keeping its own design.

Why it matters to you:

  • Newer units use electronic controls and parts that move through a large supply network
  • Older units can need parts that are scarce or discontinued, so we check availability before quoting

The quickest way to know which you have is the model and serial label. We can read the age from it.

The Dacor refrigeration lineup

Column refrigerators and freezers

Integrated columns are the core of Dacor’s built-in refrigeration. An all-refrigerator column, an all-freezer column and a wine column can be combined in different widths. They are offered panel-ready, so they disappear into the cabinets, or with Dacor’s stainless fronts and handles.

Full-size built-ins and freestanding models

Dacor has offered full-size built-in French-door and side-by-side models, as well as freestanding French-door refrigerators. The freestanding units roll into a standard opening and are repaired much like other high-end freestanding refrigerators.

Wine columns

Wine columns have glass doors and two or more temperature zones. They are built for steady temperatures and low vibration, so small drifts in temperature are more noticeable than in a food refrigerator.

Problems we commonly see

  • A column that slowly warms while the display looks normal, often from a defrost or fan fault
  • Freezer column ice makers that stop, jam or make small cubes
  • Panel-ready doors that sag and stop sealing
  • Wine zones that drift, or fog on the glass door
  • Control panels or Wi-Fi features that stop responding

If one of the columns has gone warm, our built-in refrigerator repair page explains how we approach integrated units. For wine columns, see our wine cooler repair page.

Finding the model and serial number

On column and built-in units, look inside the compartment on a side wall or near the ceiling. Some units also have a label behind the lower grille. Freestanding Dacor refrigerators usually carry it on an inside wall of the fresh-food section.

Service notes

Column units are anchored to the cabinetry, and a few repairs mean pulling one forward. We plan that ahead, including the water line on freezer columns with ice makers. Newer Dacor parts are usually reasonable to source. On older models, we tell you up front if a part is hard to find, so you are not left with a refrigerator half-repaired while you wait.

Dacor’s parent company also sells refrigerators under its own name. Those are covered on our Samsung page; they are a different product line with different cabinets, features and parts.

A technician tests the system and finds the actual fault. The visit is $149.

  3. Written quote first

You get the price before any work starts. Go ahead and the $149 is credited toward the repair.

  4. Repair with OEM parts

Common parts are often on the truck. If one has to be ordered, we book the return visit when it arrives. Parts and labor are covered by our warranty.

Dacor repair FAQ

Is Dacor the same as Samsung now?

Dacor is a separate luxury brand, but Samsung Electronics has owned it since 2016. Dacor keeps its own design and dealer network, while newer Dacor appliances draw on Samsung's engineering and parts supply. For repair, that means a newer Dacor unit can be easier to source parts for than an older one built before the acquisition, when Dacor refrigeration came from other suppliers.

Can you fix an older Dacor refrigerator?

Often, but the answer depends on the part. Common items like fans, defrost parts, gaskets and water valves can usually be found for older Dacor refrigerators. Model-specific control boards and door parts are harder, and some are no longer made. We check availability with your model and serial number before quoting, and we will tell you if an older unit is reaching the point where replacement makes more sense.

Why does my Dacor column refrigerator door not close fully?

On panel-ready columns, the custom panel adds weight that the hinges and door closers carry every time the door swings. Over the years that can pull the door out of alignment, so it stops short of sealing. Overloaded door bins and an unlevel unit make it worse. We adjust the hinges and check the gasket, and replace closers or hinges when adjustment is no longer enough.
