AGA Refrigerator Repair
We repair AGA refrigerators as an independent service. The styling is traditional, but the cooling system inside is a conventional one, and the main question on most jobs is part availability, which we confirm during the diagnostic.

FridgeRepair.pro is an independent repair service operated by Appliance Repair Pros. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by AGA or Middleby Corporation. The AGA name and logo identify the equipment we repair.

AGA is a small part of the US refrigeration market, and so a small part of our work. When one does come in, AGA refrigerator repair is straightforward on the cooling side and slower on the parts side. We diagnose the unit like any other refrigerator, then confirm what is available and how long it takes to arrive before you approve the repair.
What AGA is, and who owns it
AGA is a British brand best known for its cast-iron cookers, the heavy, always-warm ranges found in country kitchens. Since 2015 it has been part of Middleby Corporation, the US group that also owns Viking and U-Line. Refrigeration is a sideline to the cookers, and AGA refrigerators are typically styled to match them, with enamel colors and traditional handles.
There is one name you may see on older paperwork: AGA Marvel. While AGA owned the Marvel refrigeration business, some undercounter refrigerators and wine units were sold in the US under that combined name. If your unit says AGA Marvel, tell us when you book, since it is an undercounter design rather than a full-size refrigerator.
Classic styling over ordinary internals
The cabinet, the door shape and the color are what make an AGA an AGA. Behind the panels you will find the same building blocks as any modern refrigerator: a compressor, a condenser, an evaporator with its fan, a defrost heater and a thermostat or electronic control. That is good news for diagnosis, because the failure patterns are familiar.
The cosmetic parts are the brand-specific ones. A cracked door handle, a chipped enamel panel or a trim piece in a particular color has to come from AGA, and those are the items most likely to take time.
AGA refrigerator problems we commonly see
- Warm fresh-food section, cold freezer: an evaporator fan that has stopped, or ice packed on the evaporator after a defrost failure.
- Both sections warming: a dirty condenser or a condenser fan that no longer spins. Check that nothing is blocking airflow at the base.
- Water pooling inside: a blocked defrost drain, often frozen solid.
- Door not sealing: a gasket that has gone stiff or torn at a corner.
A typical example: an AGA in a farmhouse-style kitchen slowly loses cooling over a few weeks, and the condenser turns out to be matted with dust. Cleaning and a fan check is a short job; if the compressor is struggling, it is a bigger conversation.
Finding the model and serial number
Look inside the fresh-food compartment on the side walls and ceiling first, then behind the bottom grille. If the unit was brought from overseas, the label may list only European or UK details. A clear photo of it is the most useful thing you can send us.
Checks worth doing first
Check the breaker, the temperature dial and the door seals, and give the condenser area a careful vacuum if you can reach it. If the refrigerator still runs warm, our refrigerator not cooling guide explains what each symptom usually means. For more on how we handle the visit itself, see refrigerator repair.

AGA repair FAQ
Are parts for AGA refrigerators hard to find in the US?
It depends on the model. AGA is a small presence in US refrigeration, so parts are less likely to be sitting on a local distributor's shelf than parts for a mass-market brand. Some components are common to many refrigerators; brand-specific ones often have to be ordered. We confirm availability and lead time during the diagnostic, before you commit to the repair.
My AGA refrigerator came from the UK. Can you still work on it?
Tell us when you book. A unit built for the UK runs on a different voltage and may be on a transformer, and its parts are listed under UK model numbers. We can still diagnose it, but sourcing parts takes longer and some may not be available here. You will know where things stand before any money goes into parts.
Is an AGA refrigerator worth repairing?
Often it is, because people buy AGA for the look and the match with their cooker, and a common fault such as a fan, defrost part or gasket is a reasonable repair. If the compressor or sealed system has failed on an older unit and parts are scarce, replacement may make more sense, and we will say so.
