About Hotpoint
Hotpoint is one of the oldest appliance brand names in the US, dating to 1905. GE acquired the brand in 1952 and used it as an entry-level sub-brand positioned below the main GE line. When GE Appliances was sold to Haier in 2016, the Hotpoint brand in the US came under Haier/GE management and continues to be sold through major retailers. Hotpoint refrigerators are basic top-freezer models with minimal electronics, mechanical thermostats, and NeverClean condensers that require no periodic cleaning. The US Hotpoint brand is entirely distinct from the Hotpoint brand sold in the UK/Europe (which is an Indesit/Whirlpool brand). All US Hotpoint refrigerators are manufactured in the USA at GE Appliances facilities and are positioned as the most affordable option in the GE/Haier portfolio.
