FridgeRepair.pro is an independent repair service operated by Appliance Repair Pros. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by U-Line or Middleby Corporation. The U-Line name and logo identify the equipment we repair.

U-Line builds undercounter refrigeration, so that’s what we work on. We service its refrigerators, refrigerator drawers, clear-ice machines and wine coolers, indoors and on covered patios. In U-Line refrigerator, ice maker and wine cooler repair, the first things we check are almost always airflow at the front grille and the drain path.

## Who makes U-Line

U-Line is a Milwaukee company that has specialized in undercounter refrigeration for decades. It became part of Middleby Corporation in 2017, alongside Viking and AGA. You will find its units in kitchen islands, wet bars, home theaters and outdoor kitchens.

## How U-Line units are built

Everything about a U-Line is shaped by its location: under a counter, with cabinetry on three sides and no gap at the back for air.

- **Front breathing:** the condenser pulls room air in through the toe-kick grille and pushes warm air back out the same grille. If that grille is blocked or packed with lint, the unit overheats and runs constantly.
- **Outdoor-rated models:** these have weather-resistant cabinets and components, but still depend on a clean grille. Leaves, pollen and spider webs are the outdoor version of pet hair.
- **Drawers:** refrigerator drawers rely on gaskets that seal against the cabinet face. A drawer that does not close fully, often from an item jammed behind it, is a common source of frost and warm temperatures.

## U-Line ice machines

U-Line’s clear-ice machines freeze water in layers so the cubes come out hard and clear, and they need a drain. Some installs use gravity drain to a floor drain or standpipe; others use a drain pump that lifts water to a sink drain. Neither tolerates a sag, a kink or a clog for long.

Much of the Seattle area is on soft water, which slows scale buildup, but these machines still need periodic cleaning. Slime and mineral film on the freezing surface reduce production well before anything actually fails. Our [ice maker repair](https://fridgerepair.pro/ice-maker-repair/) page covers what we test when cleaning does not help.

## U-Line refrigerator and ice maker problems we see

- **Refrigerator warm, compressor running:** dirty condenser, blocked grille, failing condenser fan or evaporator fan.
- **Refrigerator freezing food:** a temperature sensor reading wrong, or a setting changed during cleaning.
- **Ice machine making little or no ice:** dirty condenser, scaled freezing surface, water valve, or a cutter grid that is not releasing the slab.
- **Water on the floor:** drain line, drain pump or inlet connection.
- **Wine cooler swinging in temperature:** zone sensor, fan, gasket, or an oven or dishwasher next to the cabinet adding heat.

A classic example: an island beverage center that worked fine for years starts running warm every summer afternoon. Very often the grille and the condenser behind it are packed with dust, and a cleaning plus a fan check solves it.

## Finding the model and serial number

On U-Line refrigerators and wine coolers the label is usually inside the cabinet near the top of a side wall. On drawers it is often on the cabinet frame once a drawer is pulled out. On ice machines, look inside the bin door or behind the front grille. A photo of the label speeds up parts lookup.

## Service notes for U-Line owners

Vacuum the toe-kick grille every few months, and more often for outdoor units. Keep rugs, bins and doormats away from the grille. If your wine cooler shares a cabinet run with a dishwasher or wall oven, mention it; heat from a neighbor is a real factor in undercounter diagnosis. For wine-specific symptoms, our [wine cooler not cooling guide](https://fridgerepair.pro/guides/wine-cooler-not-cooling/) is a good first read.

## U-Line appliances we service

- [U-Line refrigerator repair](https://fridgerepair.pro/brands/u-line/refrigerator-repair/): Undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator drawers and beverage centers, indoors and out. Weak cooling on these is often a clogged front grille or condenser rather than a failed part.
- [U-Line ice maker repair](https://fridgerepair.pro/brands/u-line/ice-maker-repair/): U-Line's undercounter clear-ice machines, with gravity-drain or pump-drain installs. Slow production, thin cubes and water on the floor are the usual complaints.
- [U-Line wine cooler repair](https://fridgerepair.pro/brands/u-line/wine-cooler-repair/): Single- and dual-zone undercounter wine coolers. Temperature swings usually trace to a sensor, fan or door seal, and sometimes to a hot spot in the cabinet run.

## How a U-Line repair visit works

1. **Call or send a request:** We reply within one business hour. We ask what the appliance is doing, the brand and, if handy, the model number from the label inside the door.
2. **Diagnosis in your home:** A technician tests the system and finds the actual fault. The visit is $149.
3. **Written quote first:** You get the price before any work starts. Go ahead and the $149 is credited toward the repair.
4. **Repair with OEM parts:** Common parts are often on the truck. If one has to be ordered, we book the return visit when it arrives. Parts and labor are covered by our warranty.

## U-Line repair FAQ

### Why is my U-Line ice maker making less ice than it used to?

The two most common reasons are a dirty condenser and scale or slime on the freezing surface. Both slow the freeze cycle, so you get fewer, thinner cubes. A partly closed supply valve or a clogged filter can do the same. If cleaning the unit per the owner's manual does not restore production, we check the water valve, the cutter grid and the refrigeration side.

### Can a U-Line outdoor refrigerator stay outside all winter?

Outdoor-rated models are built for weather, but your owner's manual sets the low-temperature limits and the winterizing steps. Ice machines are the main concern, since water left in the lines and pump can freeze and crack them. If you do not know if your unit is outdoor-rated, the model label will tell us, and we can confirm when you call.

### My U-Line ice machine leaves water on the floor. Is that a leak in the unit?

Not always. Many floor-water calls come from the drain rather than the machine: a kinked or sagging gravity drain line, a clogged floor drain, or a drain pump that has stopped running. We check the drain path first, then the water valve, the inlet fittings and the reservoir inside the machine.
