FridgeRepair.pro is an independent repair service operated by Appliance Repair Pros. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by True Residential or True Manufacturing. The True Residential name and logo identify the equipment we repair.

True has made commercial refrigeration for decades, and you can see it in how sturdy the residential hardware is. These units still fail in familiar ways, though. We service True Residential undercounter and full-height refrigerators, beverage centers and wine cabinets, and most True Residential refrigerator repair traces back to airflow, fans, controls or door seals.

## Who makes True Residential

True Residential is the home line of True Manufacturing, founded in 1945 and based in O’Fallon, Missouri. True is known for commercial refrigeration: the reach-in coolers in restaurant kitchens and the glass-door bottle coolers at convenience stores. The residential line borrows that look and build, with heavy cabinets, glass doors and bright interior lighting.

The lineup we see in homes includes undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator drawers, beverage centers and wine cabinets, plus full-height refrigerator columns. Several undercounter models are outdoor-rated.

## How True Residential units are built

Undercounter True units breathe through the front grille, like every built-in undercounter appliance. The condenser sits just behind it and collects lint, pet hair and kitchen grease. When it clogs, the compressor runs longer and the cabinet warms up, especially on a hot afternoon.

Full-height columns are separate appliances with their own sealed systems. If two columns sit side by side, a fault in one does not affect the other.

Glass doors are a signature feature, and they bring their own considerations. A glass door insulates less than a solid one, so a gasket that leaks even slightly shows up quickly as fog on the inside of the glass or frost on the back wall.

## True Residential refrigerator problems we see

- **Cabinet warm, compressor running:** dirty condenser, blocked grille, or a condenser fan that has stopped.
- **Wine zone drifting:** zone sensor, evaporator fan, or a door that is not pulling closed.
- **Frost on the back wall:** door seal or a defrost problem.
- **Louder than usual:** fan motor bearings or a compressor start component.
- **Lighting or display out:** a control or lighting fault, which we diagnose separately from the cooling system.

A familiar scenario: an outdoor True unit under a covered patio cools well all winter, then struggles in July. The grille has collected a spring’s worth of cottonwood fluff and pollen, and the condenser behind it is matted.

## Finding the model and serial number

On True Residential undercounter units the rating label is usually inside the cabinet near the top of a side wall. Full-height columns usually have it inside near the top as well. A photo with the flash on is the easiest way to send it to us.

## Service notes for True Residential owners

Keep the front grille clear and vacuum it every few months, more often outdoors. Do not let the glass door sit open while you stock it for a party; a commercial-style unit recovers well, but every minute open is heat it has to remove. For wine-specific symptoms, the [wine cooler not cooling guide](https://fridgerepair.pro/guides/wine-cooler-not-cooling/) is the place to start, and our [refrigerator repair](https://fridgerepair.pro/refrigerator-repair/) page explains how a visit works.

## True Residential appliances we service

- [True Residential refrigerator repair](https://fridgerepair.pro/brands/true-residential/refrigerator-repair/): Undercounter refrigerators, beverage centers, refrigerator drawers and full-height columns, including outdoor-rated models. Warm temperatures usually point to the condenser, a fan or a door gasket.
- [True Residential wine cooler repair](https://fridgerepair.pro/brands/true-residential/wine-cooler-repair/): Undercounter wine cabinets, single- and dual-zone. We check zone sensors, fans and glass-door seals when temperatures drift or the cabinet runs nonstop.

## How a True Residential repair visit works

1. **Call or send a request:** We reply within one business hour. We ask what the appliance is doing, the brand and, if handy, the model number from the label inside the door.
2. **Diagnosis in your home:** A technician tests the system and finds the actual fault. The visit is $149.
3. **Written quote first:** You get the price before any work starts. Go ahead and the $149 is credited toward the repair.
4. **Repair with OEM parts:** Common parts are often on the truck. If one has to be ordered, we book the return visit when it arrives. Parts and labor are covered by our warranty.

## True Residential repair FAQ

### Is True Residential the same company that makes restaurant refrigerators?

It is the residential line of True Manufacturing, a Missouri company known for commercial refrigeration such as the reach-in coolers and glass-door merchandisers found in restaurants and convenience stores. The residential units carry over that commercial approach in their build, but they are home appliances with their own models and parts, so we look up parts by the residential model number.

### Why is my True Residential refrigerator louder than my old one?

Commercial-style units tend to have a more noticeable compressor and fan sound than a typical kitchen refrigerator, and a front-breathing undercounter unit sends that sound straight into the room. A new rattle, a grinding fan or clicking every few minutes is different and worth a diagnostic, since a failing fan motor or start component can sound like that.

### My True glass-door unit fogs up. Is something broken?

Usually not broken, but worth checking. Fog on the outside of the glass is common when the room is humid. Fog or frost on the inside usually means warm air is getting in: a gasket that has lost its seal, a door that does not close fully, or a hinge that has shifted. We check the gasket and door alignment first.
